Discipleship electives

Sunday Mornings from 11:15 AM until Noon, we offer our discipleship electives. These are generally six to eight week classes that cover a variety of essential topics. We vary our curriculum to teach the essentials of the Christian faith, practical Christian living, and books from the Bible.

Children's classes are offered during this time with age appropriate teaching covering the whole of the Scriptures.

Current electives

  • "Jesus Outside the Lines: A Way Forward for Those Who Are Tired of Taking Sides"

Today's culture pushes each one of us into a frustrating clash between two opposing sides. Polarizing, us-against-them discussions divide us and distract us from thinking clearly and communicating lovingly to others. Author Scott Sauls shows us how the words and actions of Jesus reveal a response that does not perpetuate the destructive fray. This class meets in the parlor just behind the sanctuary.

  • "The Holiness of God"

God is inescapable. There is no place we can hide from Him. Not only does He penetrate every aspect of our lives, He penetrates in His majestic holiness. Therefore, we must seek to understand what holy is. There can be no worship, no spiritual growth, no true obedience without it. God has declared, "Be holy, because I am holy" (Lev. 11:44) This class meets in the library.

  • LADIES CLASS "Sermon on the Mount"

What does it mean to be a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven? The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers. How should a disciple relate to sin, others, and to the Law? This is a DVD study led by Jen Wilkins. This class meets in the ZCA Elementary School-the last classroom on the right before you get to the ZCA office lobby.
