Discipleship electives

Sunday Mornings from 11:15 AM until Noon, we offer our discipleship electives. These are generally six to eight week classes that cover a variety of essential topics. We vary our curriculum to teach the essentials of the Christian faith, practical Christian living, and books from the Bible.

Children's classes are offered during this time with age appropriate teaching covering the whole of the Scriptures.

  • "Finding Freedom from Shame"

    Teacher: Chad Middlebrooks

    Location: Parlor

There are experiences in our lives, whether in the distant past or more recently, that are as vivid as the day they happened. Whether it was being made fun of in middle school, being fired from a job, struggling with body image issues, a particular secret sin, or not living up to your own or other's expectations…shame has visited us all. Shame is the unwelcome visitor that whispers to us that we are an outcast, worthless, weak, dirty, a failure and undeserving of anything good. Are you tired of being shackled with shame and believing its lies? In this six week class, we will discover how the rescuing Savior pursues the broken and provides true freedom by covering our shame and bestowing honor on his beloved.

  • "The Gospel of Mark"

    Teacher: Don Wahlman

    Location: Library

This study will provide a quick overview of the Gospel of Mark.  In this gospel account (the shortest of the gospels) we see Mark clearly providing the truths of Jesus as the Messiah, the king, the Son of David, who was rejected by the religious establishment of that time.  Mark calls us to radical discipleship and a renewed relationship with God.

  • LADIES CLASS "Sermon on the Mount"

What does it mean to be a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven? The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers. How should a disciple relate to sin, others, and to the Law? This is a DVD study led by Jen Wilkins. This class meets in the ZCA Elementary School-the last classroom on the right before you get to the ZCA office lobby.
