Children are an important part of our Zion family. We are delighted to have them joining us on Sunday mornings; even our wiggliest ones. However, we also recognize how hard managing a toddler in a worship service can be. Because of this, we will be providing childcare for children who are walkers up to three years old starting this Sunday. This childcare will take place beginning just before the sermon and will continue through the remainder of the worship service.
Below you will find further information concerning what to expect and how to check-in, drop-off, and check-out your children. Also, below are the details regarding hygiene and health information.
Please be patient with us as we may need to make some adjustments along the way. One thing that this pandemic has brought us is a need to remain flexible because it seems like things are changing daily. If we make any changes, we will be sure to notify you.
Parents please arrive to worship a little early so the check-in process can be done prior to the service in order to expedite drop-off before the sermon. Check-in will be at the far side of the gym at the entrance of the music room. If you have any trouble finding it, the ushers will gladly assist you. Check-in will begin at 9:15 and will continue until the beginning of the service. We will be using a system called Planning Center which will hopefully make check-in very simple for parents. At check-in you will be given two ID tags. One ID tag will be placed on your child's back. The second ID tag will need to be presented when you come to pick up your child at the end of the service.
Drop-off your child during the two songs before the sermon. Please bring them in through the music room door facing the gym, then exit the door at the back of the room.
If you do not arrive to worship early, you can still check-in during the drop-off time. However, if you can, please help us make the drop-off as smoothly as possible by checking your child in prior to the service.
Children’s hands will be sanitized as they enter the music room.
Please bring your child’s ID tag with you promptly at the conclusion of the service. Simply hand your ID tag to one of the childcare workers and they will check you out of our Planning Center system. We again ask that you enter the music room door facing the gym and exit through the door at the back of the music room.
Children’s hands will be sanitized as they leave.
All childcare volunteers will be required to wear masks at all times they are in the music room. We will be doing our best to try to prevent the spreading of germs from child to child, including having a bin for mouthed toys which will be sanitized after each Sunday's service.
We understand that some children of this age are potty training. Unfortunately, we will not be able to facilitate taking children to the bathroom under the current circumstances. If your child needs to go to the bathroom, we will send you a text and one of the volunteers will bring them out to the gym. Please meet them outside the door; you can take them to the bathroom and bring them back when they are done. Please try to take your child to the bathroom before the worship service in order to avoid this as much as possible.
Storage for diaper bags will be provided in the music room. Please be sure to keep all children’s water bottles or sippy cups with their bags. If a child asks for a drink, we will allow them to have a drink then return the cup to their bag. We will not be feeding the children a snack, and we ask that parents do not send food with their child.
If a child displays any signs of being sick while in childcare, we will notify you immediately and ask that you keep them with you for the remainder of the service.
We value the health and safety of our children and volunteers. Because of this we ask that children only participate if they are well. We will not be doing temperature checks or asking screening questions to children or parents. If a child has had a fever (over 100) or has had diarrhea or vomiting within 48 hours please keep them home. Children with coughing, congestion, runny noses, or unexplained rashes will also be unable to participate until they are symptom free.
If a child has been exposed to someone who is Covid-positive within the last 14 days or has a Covid test pending, please take the necessary precautions of keeping them home.
